So pleased to welcome you here, Birth Roots .. a space to connect, share, be informed, whole-istically nourished and to plan for your pregnancy and parenting journey
birth roots grew slowly, born out of my desire to offer support to women, birthing people and their families who felt they needed to complement their birth team with care that was consistent throughout. Whether you're considering pregnancy, pregnant, a parent already or simply interested in all things birth, my hope is that the space I have created here will resonate with you. I completed my formal Doula training with Nurturing Birth in 2012, a Doula UK approved course. This added a name to something that has felt instinctive for a long time: simply being with and gemtly responding to the needs of the birthing person, while honouring, protecting and respecting their birthing environment. I offer my time and open-hearted space as you journey through pregnancy and birth, confidently into Parenthood. This support extends to the Father, birth partner, siblings and wider family, knowing that by supporting them I am supporting you too. Being listened to without time constraints or pressure, while considering thoughts, feelings and decisions for birth, allows balanced information around choices to be explored. This then helps you to prepare for the birth you'd like, better enabling a positive experience. How a person feels during their birthing journey matters greatly. Birth stays with us and shapes our transition to becoming a Mother/Parent. As is the way with many things, if we nourish our roots they become strong, while being able to bend and sway with the changing winds and paths before us. My training in Anatomy and Physiology enables me to have detailed understanding and insight into how our bodies work physiologically and prepared me well for my further learning in Reflexology, Massage and Aromatherapy. I utilise these holistic modalities intuitively during my work, if this is invited in. In 2015 I completed my training as a Placenta Remedy Specialist under IPEN, Europe's leading placenta remedies training programme and am also affiliated to Placenta Remedies Network, UK based International network of specialists. I hold certificates in Food Safety, HACCP and Infection Control and have been awarded a 5* hygiene rating by my Local Authority. This work holds great reverence, honour and importance and has allowed me to further connect with the journey of post partum recovery, the threads of placenta healing weaving back through history; deeply embedded in traditions and cultures around the world. In 2019 I added to my skill set by undertaking KG Hypnobirthing training, this complements my Doula work beautifully and also serves as a stand alone antenatal programme too. Clients benefit from my layered knowledge of the labour and birthing journey, as well as gaining a deeper understanding of antenatal preparation. KG is a complete 10 hour course, enabling sound and comprehensive learning that an in-depth course provides. I admin my local Birth Circle group, formed in 2015, where we meet monthly and benefit from an active, supportive and responsive facebook group too. Birth is a deeply sacred threshold, a transformational journey, a time to tap into your intuitive birthing wisdom. We all hold this deep within and now is the time to claim your power and birth the way you choose to.
